Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir: A fierce encounter broke out between joint security forces and terrorists in the Akhal Devsar area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district earlier today. In a swift and strategic response, the forces successfully neutralized one Pakistani terrorist, believed to be associated with a proscribed terror outfit operating in the region.
According to official sources, intelligence inputs had indicated suspicious movement in the area, following which a cordon-and-search operation was launched jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and CRPF. As the forces closed in, they came under heavy fire, triggering an intense gun battle.
The slain terrorist was heavily armed and carrying a large backpack. The image above, captured post-encounter, shows the militant lying lifeless with arms and ammunition recovered near the body. His identity has not yet been officially disclosed, but preliminary reports suggest he was a Pakistani national, infiltrated across the Line of Control.
Security officials have confirmed that the operation is still ongoing as 2 to 3 more terrorists are believed to be holed up in the vicinity. Additional reinforcements have been deployed, and the area remains under high alert.
